Elemi Massage Oils
With the returning rise in popularity of aromatherapy, new essential oils from exotic plants are constantly popping up like fresh flowers in American markets. Some of these oils will have strange names, but they still are as powerful and medicinal as their better-known relatives in other parts of the world. One of the rising stars of the aromatherapy world are elemi massage oils and therapeutic grade 100% aromatherapy oils.
What Is Elemi?
Elemi is tree that is related to frankincense that natively grows in the Philippines and Molucca Islands. Because there is a shortage of frankincense trees, alternatives are being sought, and elemi has a similar scent and many of the same properties. Like frankincense, it is the gum or resin of the tree that the magical oil is derived from. The oil is made through the process of steam distillation of that resin. Elemi essential oil was used as far back as the days of the Pharaohs in Ancient Egypt to embalm mummies.
What's It Good For?
Elemi massage oils can help you with repertory problems, with maintaining good skin care and as a general stimulant. It helps your body to subconsciously breath deeper and therefore brings more oxygen into your body. Elemi massage oils are also antiseptic and can make you sweat only if your body needs to sweat. (Lavender is another oil that can also do this). Elemi blends well with a lot of other essential oils such as myrrh, frankincense, lavender, rosemary, sage and all of the spicy scents like cinnamon.
